My Art in The X-Files Set
Have I ever told you about how my work was on the X-files? Depends on how far back our friendship goes. I grew up in Vancouver, graduated from Emily Carr College of Art and Design, where I studied painting and printmaking. I spent many years focusing on my artwork, showing locally in Vancouver as well as nationally and internationally. Being a full time artist means having a part time job to support your art. I was slinging furniture and hanging my own artwork amongst the sofas on the showroom floor. Renting furniture out to film and television sets was quite common, so selling 6 of my pieces for a pilot episode of a show called the X-files was a nice bonus to my sales day. I’ve seen 5 on the show, not really sure where the 6th one is hanging. Suppose that is fitting, just another mystery.
Here I am, hoarding those lithographs for over 25 years. If you were one of the lucky ones that picked one up, way back when, it had better be framed and hanging on a wall.
My cousin was quick to “borrow” this edition of Entertainment Weekly when she came across this picture of Mulder’s apartment and some familiar art work at a Doctor’s office.
This one used to hang in the hallway. If Mulder was on the phone, you would get a good view of it on the wall!
There is a lot of confusion when it comes to prints. These are not reproductions of artwork but original prints, more specifically, original Stone Lithographs. The Metropolitan Museum of Art describes this process well. I am a painter and printmaker, you’ll only find original works for sale on my website, not reproductions. Enjoy having the original!
It’s been fun going down memory lane and taking inventory of the few images I still have from this series. Check out my “From the Print Drawers” page. I’ll be adding a few more images soon. Feel free to reach out to me if you are a collector trying to get a hold of one of the last remaining pieces from the show.
