Painting Seattle Dive bars, Ice cream bars and Fish Bars…
Growing up in Vancouver BC, I would often visit Seattle with my Canon AE1 program in hand, wander around Pioneer Square, Downtown, Pikes Place and the U-District. Taking pictures and visiting galleries. So many favorites are gone.
I didn’t know then that Seattle would be my forever home and I would still wander the streets with my android phone/camera in hand. A few favorites are still around, but I’m not sure for how long…
The 41st Annual PNA Winter Festival and Craft Fair
I am super excited to have been selected as one of this years participating artists.
Sunset Hill Walking Art Fair 2021
The Sunset Hill Walking Art Fair 2021 is a wrap. A huge thank you to the organizers and especially to everyone that turned out to make it such a success. We thoroughly enjoyed having a backyard and studio buzzing with activity and are already looking forward to next year.
Postcards from Europe, Travels with Friends
My first trip to Europe back in 1992! I fell in love with Italy and this Polka dot Vespa. I still remember taking this photo, having my friends strike a pose behind it , the streets of Florence behind them.
Painting the Street Scenes, Oaxaca, Mexico
During this 100 day challenge smaller groupings have appeared, nothing I could have planned just the results of a daily practice and putting in the time. I covered my food groups in this Oaxacan mini series; Frutas y Legumes, Pescaderia, Rosticeria, Taqueria, Queseria, and EL Mundo Del Dulce. It’s making me very hungry.
Women of India, Paintings
The Salwar Kameez is the traditional dress of the women of Punjab. Consisting of the loose fitting bottoms, the Salwar and a long tunic, the Kameez. Styles change seasonally and you would never wear a formal outfit twice!
Family Portraits, from Zimbabwe to Bali
Day 62 of my 100 days of art and here are my people again. We don’t pose for portraits. I’m always trying to run ahead and grab a quick picture before they notice. I know them well, I’ve been observing and photographing them for years. The way they walk, their postures, attitudes and body language.
Family Portraits, Venice & Burano
Travel has always been a source of inspiration for me. It may have started with a trip to New York when I was at Art School. I did a series of very large stone Lithographs and a series of very small engravings all New York facades. No people, just the marks we leave behind.
It started in Venice…
In the fall of 2020 I started painting small watercolor postcards based on my own photos from a family trip to Italy a couple years ago. After painting daily for almost 2 months i decided to start a #100dayartchallenge.
Tea Shops, Sweet Shops and Meat Shops
High above Dharmashala where the Dali Lama lives, we sat relaxed, waiting for the heavy afternoon rains to stop before walking back to our guest house, Jagatram Niwas. Our guest house lies clinging to the mountainside in the teeny tiny village of Heini.
